Recreation and Park’s Child Development Program is currently hiring Recreation Assistants throughout Los
Angeles to work at our newly opening preschool sites. Staffing placements will be prioritized for facilities currently
open or scheduled to open soon. Recreation Assistant is a permanent part-time and year-round job position.

15-20 hours per week, with availability on: weekday 11am – 5pm, weekends: 9am – 5 pm, nights and holiday shifts based on facility need

school year. School program shifts are usually between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
• Nightly public telescope viewing is usually 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.; shifts are 6:15 p.m. – 10:15 p.m.

• From 10 to 15 hours per week based on the number of shows scheduled, and the employee’s availability and ability. There is no minimum guarantee of the number of hours scheduled or worked.
• Available hours may need to include weekends, evenings, and selected holidays.
• The Observatory’s In-person School Program is conducted most Wednesday–Friday mornings (and occasional Tuesday mornings) during the school year. Shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium are an essential element of the school program.

0-20 hours per week; various shifts Monday-Friday, 4:00pm - 8:00pm and/or weekends.
